How it is calculated

  • Total miles = loaded miles + deadhead miles.
  • Fuel = total miles ÷ mpg × fuel price. Other operating costs = total miles × other cost per mile.
  • Driver pay = per-mile × total miles, or a percentage of revenue, or a flat amount.
  • Profit = revenue − fuel − other costs − driver pay − tolls and other − factoring fee. Margin = profit ÷ revenue.

Common questions

About the load profit calculator for truckers

How is load profit calculated?

Profit is load revenue minus fuel, other operating costs, driver pay, tolls and other expenses, and any factoring fee.

Why include deadhead miles?

Deadhead miles are empty miles you drive to reach a pickup or return. They burn fuel and add cost without adding revenue, so they reduce profit per mile.

How do I enter driver pay?

Choose per mile, a percentage of revenue, or a flat amount per load, then enter the value.

Is my data saved?

No. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing you enter is stored or sent.
